<blockquote>I hope nobody here is getting mini-hysterical over the mini-sterium.</blockquote>

It's yet another example of the new class of super-laity that Bishop Clark has implemented in this diocese.

Perhaps a dress code could be implemented in stages. Stage 1: Lectors and Extraordinary Ministers of HC must dress in a formal manner - shirt, tie, jacket for men, and longer dresses or skirts or pants and long sleeve, preferably with a jacket. Stage 2: A sign at the door about respectful dress at Mass. All the formal lay ministers should set the tone and be told it is their responsibility - otherwise, they may not serve. And the parish should be notified of this code for these lay ministers.

Personnel Changes at the Cathedral

Fr. Edison will complete his three year internship here
at the Cathedral this June. He has recently been notified
by the Bishop of his new assignment as Parochial Vicar at
the Church of the Assumption in Fairport. Fr. John
Loncle, our former associate here at the Cathedral and
now the Parochial Vicar at Assumption has been named
pastor of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Spencerport.
Father Pius Pathmarajah, presently Parochial Vicar at St.
John the Evangelist Parish in Greece, has been appointed
by Bishop Clark to assist here at the Cathedral beginning
at the end of June when these new appointments will take
effect. We will be scheduling a farewell for Fr. Edison
and a welcome event for Fr. Pius soon.

Ben,
it's a small thing but...

           ...makes Christ’s YOLK unbelievably light...

I think it should be 'yoke' (a frame across one's shoulders used to carry a load), not 'yolk' (the rounded inner part of an egg).

Thanks for that, Diane. I also made a note of that section... specifically the severing of friendships. It goes completely against the wisdom offered by the spirit of the age that offending someone is the most grave sin there is. We would do well to apply this same logic to a church/parish body. Our mentality is all too often, "keeping people in the pews is what counts", "at least they are here", "visible communion at all costs" often referring to people who have no desire to work for the authentic Gospel of Jesus Christ, but rather work to tear down the Church he has established. At some point our pastors need to say, "no, you are not welcome be an active part of this community unless you confess our faith in its entirety".
