Deacon John Cornelius, an Episcopal priest for twenty years before reconciling with the Roman Catholic Church, will be ordained a Catholic priest Saturday, January 26 and will offer his first (Anglican Use) Mass on Sunday, January 27 at 3 P.M. in the (old) Church of the Good Shepherd in Henrietta.
Every Sunday thereafter the Anglican Use Mass will be offered at 3 P.M. at the Church of the Good Shepherd. Cornelius will be administering the Fellowship of Saint Alban, the local church of the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter which is mostly comprised of former traditional Anglicans who have reconciled with the Catholic Church are are allowed to worship according to the ceremonials of their former Anglican tradition. The Anglican Use Mass is as valid as the Novus Ordo and the Extraordinary Form. (Yes, you can go to Mass there and receive the Eucharist, the true Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ.)
This is an exciting development for our area and it would be wonderful to pack the church for this special occasion Mass to help our newly formed group of fellow Catholics in Rochester, celebrate.
